The Role:

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead and scale a high-performing engineering organisation within a complex, cloud-based platform environment. This senior leadership role combines strategic ownership, people development, and technical credibility. You’ll shape the engineering vision, modernise core systems, and build an environment where teams move fast, build with quality, and take real ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead with purpose by inspiring engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges and fostering a culture of innovation and experimentation

• Develop future leaders by coaching senior engineering managers and building clear career paths and development frameworks

• Drive strategic technical initiatives including platform modernisation and scalable service architecture design

• Build a strong engineering culture focused on delivery, ownership, automation, and modern practices

• Attract and retain top engineering talent by partnering with recruitment and strengthening the employer brand

• Practice servant leadership by removing blockers, empowering teams, and maintaining high standards and accountability

• Bridge technology and business by working closely with product, architecture, and commercial stakeholders across multiple regions

• Champion best practices by evolving the software development lifecycle and engineering standards

• Maintain technical credibility through architecture reviews, complex problem-solving, and critical technical decision-making when required

Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years leading engineering managers and scaling organisations of 50+ engineers

• Strong background in cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, and microservices architectures

• Proven experience transforming engineering organisations and building high-performing cultures

• Ability to balance long-term strategy with pragmatic execution

• Demonstrated success attracting, hiring, and retaining senior engineering talent

• Passion for modern engineering practices including AI-enabled development, platform engineering, and developer experience

• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to dive into backend systems and cloud architecture when needed

• Comfortable working in international, cross-cultural environments

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and align teams around a shared vision
