VR / Unity software engineer (100%; Lausanne)

2.2 billion people suffer from vision impairments of which 50% could be prevented or cured according to the World Health Organization. At PeriVision, we combine AI algorithms, virtual reality and cloud computing to build the next generation systems to test visual function. To optimize our tools for clinical value, we take a disease-centric approach. The first condition we are targeting is glaucoma. We address the large unmet need for more efficient and effective visual field testing in 100M glaucoma patients.  

How your role fits in

As a Unity Game Engine, Virtual Reality Software Developer you will closely collaborate with our software engineering team. You will oversee building applications running on Android based VR devices, maintain and improve current VR based solutions and C# code bases, help define and implement rich and compelling state-of-the-art Unity Apps. In addition, you will collaborate on our frontend and backend components, enabling seamless integration of VR experiences with our medical software ecosystem.

Your responsibilities

• Prototype and develop a modular VR application using the Unity Game Engine framework.
• Translate design modules into reusable components.
• Integrate a software testing pipeline (unit-testing and end-to-end testing).
• Collaborate on the development and maintenance of frontend applications.
• Support backend services, including the implementation of APIs used by VR applications.
• Help ensure compliance with medical device software development standards (MDR, FDA, ISO 13485).
• Ensure that our VR application is compatible with targeted VR hardware.
• Interact with clients and external partners. 

Your qualifications

• 4 years proven professional experience writing VR applications.
• Deep knowledge of modular and testable code in C#.
• Deep knowledge of the Unity Game Engine, game loops, Unity UI components and libraries. 
• Strong experience in secure client-server architecture using HTTPS and WebSockets
• Practical knowledge on optimizing and translating graphic assets from designer-conceptualization to a production-ready UI component. 
• Test-driven development with knowledge of UI testing in a CI / CD environment. 
• Nice-to-have: Experience in medtech, regulated software, or medical device development environments.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with bluetooth connectivity with VR applications
