UI/UX Design Intern (Turkey-based)

Role: UI/UX Design Intern – AI SaaS / Technician Experience

Location: Remote from Turkey (working with NL-based founders & Turkish dev team)

Type: Internship (part-time or full-time, to be agreed) — Unpaid

Future: Strong fit + performance can lead to a paid junior role later (depending on company capacity)

About Manuel AI

Technicians in the Netherlands don’t sit in offices. They are:

  • in basements with boilers,
  • on roofs with heat pumps,
  • in front of angry customers and blinking error codes.

They don’t have time to read 80-page PDF manuals.

Manuel AI is their digital colleague.

They type an error code or a problem into Manuel.

Manuel reads technical documents, uses AI, and returns short, clear steps they can follow on-site.

The product is:

  • web and mobile-first,
  • used in the field, on phones, often in a hurry,
  • backed by a heavy document and AI engine.

Your job is not to make things “pretty”.

Your job is to make stressful situations easier to navigate on a small screen.

Who you’ll work with

  • Founding team in the Netherlands (vision, industry, customers).
  • Core development team in Turkey (fullstack devs, fully remote).
  • Product & Project roles who will give you context and push your thinking.

Small team. Direct feedback. No layers. If you design something, it can actually ship.

What you will do

As a UI/UX Design Intern, you will:

  • Work on real screens for Manuel AI:
  • technician question/answer flows,
  • onboarding and “first-time” experiences,
  • simple internal tools when needed.
  • Design flows and screens:
  • map simple user flows,
  • create low-fidelity wireframes,
  • turn them into high-fidelity designs in Figma.
  • Think mobile-first:
  • technicians mostly use phones,
  • limited time, limited attention, high stress.
  • Build small interactive prototypes in Figma to show how a flow works.
  • Iterate with the team:
  • explain your thinking,
  • take feedback without ego,
  • tighten the design until it’s simple and clear.

You will not be making “fake Dribbble shots”.

You will be working on a live product used by real people.

Who you are

Must-haves

  • Based in Turkey.
  • Student or recent graduate (design, communication, HCI, engineering + self-taught design, etc.).

  • You can use Figma comfortably:
  • create frames, components and basic prototypes.
  • You know the basics of UI/UX: hierarchy, spacing, typography, contrast, mobile layouts.

  • You can show some work:
  • a Figma link, Behance, PDF, anything that proves you’ve actually designed screens.

  • Language:
  • Turkish: fluent (daily communication with the team).
  • English: enough to read/write UI texts and understand product discussions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any experience (even school projects) with SaaS dashboards or mobile apps.
  • Interest in AI tools and chat/assistant interfaces.
  • Curiosity about how technicians, field workers or support teams actually work.

How you think

We’re not looking for:

  • people who only care about colors and gradients,
  • people who disappear for a week and then drop a Figma file.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • asks “what problem is this screen solving?”,
  • understands that technicians don’t have time for clutter,
  • is okay hearing “this is too complicated, simplify it” and trying again.

What we offer

  • Real product experience in a focused AI startup.
  • Direct feedback from founders, developers and product people.
  • Screens that can actually reach real users, not just stay in a portfolio.
  • A lot of learning in a short time — if you show up and do the work.
  • Potential to grow into a junior role later, if there is mutual fit.

Hiring process

  1. Short Typeform (basic info + a few Manuel-specific questions).
  2. Portfolio review.
  3. 30–45 min call with a founder / designer to walk through your work.
  4. Small design exercise on a real Manuel use case.

Apply via LinkedIn. If your profile looks relevant, we’ll send you the Typeform.
