Job Title - Java Developer
Job Location- Canberra, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Hobart

Permanent non-ongoing for 12 to 18 months
Salary - $92210 + addition to the salary, the role includes holiday pay, sick pay, 15.4% contribution to superannuation, and flextime (7am-7pm)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Java Developer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with project teams to transition delivery for new systems into Census Operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with project teams to transition new systems into Census Operations.
- Utilizing research and analysis skills to identify trends and prepare project briefs for informed decision-making and planning.
- Designing, developing, testing, deploying, and operating business application solutions and improvements to meet functional and non-functional needs.
- Applying best practices for the associated application's technology stack, surrounding architecture, and divisional application delivery practices.
- Assisting the team lead in developing strategy and roadmaps for the solution.
- Liaising with clients and other stakeholders to understand business needs.
- Actively monitoring and responding to production incidents and problems, applying IT service management best practices as per the division's policies.
- Liaising with partners and vendors to resolve critical issues and using their expertise to make informed design and implementation decisions.
- Supporting other team members in their work and providing technical coaching and mentoring.
- Seeking opportunities to improve operational health for the solutions in areas such as availability, performance, security, and efficiency.
- Contributing to team health by actively participating in all agreed team ceremonies and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the team context.
To be suitable for this role, you should have the following skills, qualities, and experience:
- Java development, including JBoss and REST services.
- Software engineering and/or enterprise application integration skills and experience, including relevant ICT qualifications.
- Client liaison, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and as an effective member of a team.
- Ability to analyze requirements, build new functionality, and provide robust design solutions.
- Demonstrated passion for developing quality code and an eye for detail.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex business and system-related problems.
Experience in at least one of the following areas (multiple would be highly desirable):
- Development using .NET C#.
- Developing in AWS or similar cloud services.
- HCL Notes development.
- Database development including SQL and PL/SQL.
- CI/CD experience with tools such as Octopus Deploy, Jenkins, GitLab.
- Proficiency with JavaScript, jQuery, and HTML.
- A strong understanding of WCAG and the Digital Service Standards.
