As a Drone System Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and integrating high-level features and devices that power Orbotix’s autonomous drone platforms. You will work across navigation, guidance, mission logic, and system integration, collaborating closely with hardware, flight test, and R&D teams.

This role combines advanced software development with real-world flight testing, offering direct impact on how our drones perform in operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate onboard devices and third-party systems into Orbotix drone platforms
  • Design and develop high-level flight algorithms and mission logic
  • Develop and improve navigation, guidance, and control functionalities
  • Plan, coordinate, and support flight testing activities together with flight test teams
  • Develop mission-related tools, including ground control software and operator interfaces
  • Analyze flight test results and iterate on software performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration


Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven experience developing software for drone or UAV systems
  • Strong background in high-level drone functions such as navigation, guidance, and mission logic
  • Experience integrating commercial and third-party hardware or software components into UAV systems
  • Hands-on experience supporting or organizing flight tests and drone operations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-changing environments
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Nice-to-Have

·        Experience developing or contributing to a flight stack (open-source or proprietary), such as PX4, ArduPilot, other custom autopilot solutions

·        Proficiency in C++

·        Experience with simulation environments for UAV development

·        Background in companies developing autopilot systems or advanced drone platforms
