Lead and oversee the IT BAU project portfolio - covering infrastructure, application rationalisation (with Enterprise Architecture), vendor management, M&A-related work, and major feasibility/outsourcing initiatives. Partner closely with the CTO and Leadership Team to maintain a single, trusted plan, balance resources, and drive a disciplined delivery cadence that removes obstacles and ensures progress.

Role is hybrid - 3 days a week from the London Office - 2 can be homebased. There will also be a requirement to travel with this role.
responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Leadership
  • Define and drive the technical delivery strategy aligned with business goals
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex IT projects and programs
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and manage expectations
  • Project & Program Delivery
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of IT solutions, ensuring scope, timeline, budget, and quality targets are met
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, often across different business units or geographies
  • Ensure robust project governance and reporting mechanisms are in place
  • Technical Oversight
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to delivery teams
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards
  • Review and approve technical designs, implementation plans, and change requests
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for senior business and IT stakeholders
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party service providers
  • Risk & Issue Management
  • Identify delivery risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Proactively resolve issues that may impact delivery timelines or quality
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards
  • Resource & Budget Management
  • Allocate resources effectively across projects and programs
  • Track and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
  • Support recruitment and development of technical delivery talent
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Promote agile and DevOps practices to improve delivery speed and quality
  • Implement lessons learned and best practices across projects
  • Drive innovation and adoption of emerging technologies
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on delivery status, KPIs, and outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits, compliance, and knowledge sharing




Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum Master)
  • ITIL certification or equivalent knowledge of IT service management frameworks




Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in IT project or program delivery, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, enterprise-scale IT solutions across multiple domains (e.g., infrastructure, applications, cloud, security)
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and third-party service providers




Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT architecture, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and modern delivery methodologies (Agile, DevOps)
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools
  • Ability to interpret technical designs and translate them into delivery plans




Leadership & Communication:

  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills, especially in high-pressure delivery environments




Business & Financial Acumen:

  • Ability to align technical delivery with business strategy and objectives
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for large-scale programs
  • Understanding of commercial contracts and vendor SLAs
