I’m currently working with a client in the construction sector who are looking for a 2nd Line Network Engineer to support their network operations on a short-term 3-month contract.
- Duration: 3 months
- Rate: £300–£350 per day
- IR35: Inside IR35
- Location: Central London (3 days onsite per week)
Role Overview
The successful contractor will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the organisation’s network infrastructure, acting as a key escalation point for network-related issues. This role is very hands-on and focused on day-to-day operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, manage, and maintain Cisco Meraki firewalls
- Resolve escalated network issues as part of a 2nd line support function
- Support LAN, WAN, VPN, and connectivity-related incidents
- Maintain the stability and performance of the network environment
- Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution in Azure-based environments
- Work closely with internal IT teams to ensure business continuity
Required Experience
- Strong experience with Cisco Meraki, particularly firewall configuration and management
- Proven background in 2nd line network support
- Solid understanding of core networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
- Experience maintaining and supporting live production networks
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to Azure networking environments
- Previous experience working in fast-paced or operational environments (construction, engineering, or similar)
