Freelance Game Designer

Join a creative project shaping a dark, atmospheric HD-2D action-adventure JRPG inspired by classics like Chrono Trigger and Octopath Traveler. This role focuses on refining the game's story, developing deep worldbuilding, and structuring a compelling core plot. You will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive plot bible (8-12 pages) that details the game’s world, character arcs, branching narrative choices, and gameplay-integrated storytelling, including dialogue for the opening act. Collaboration and creative input are highly valued, and your contributions will be credited in the final release. This is an opportunity to work closely with a passionate indie developer and help bring a unique vision to life.

Deliverables

• Develop and deliver a detailed plot bible (8-12 pages) outlining the game’s world, lore, and character journeys
• Structure the core plot and branching narrative paths, ensuring emotional depth and player agency
• Write engaging dialogue for Act 1 (15-20 minutes of gameplay)
• Integrate narrative elements with gameplay mechanics for a seamless player experience
• Collaborate with the developer to refine story concepts and provide creative input throughout the process
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in narrative design for RPGs, metroidvanias, or story-driven games
• Strong scriptwriting and worldbuilding skills, with a portfolio showcasing relevant work
• Ability to craft branching narratives and develop complex character arcs

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
