We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help design, build, and enhance the next generation of Sage products. You’ll contribute to high-quality, scalable solutions that support Sage’s long-term strategy and delight our customers.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to core backend services that support our cloud-based products. You’ll work within a collaborative engineering team, building scalable APIs and enhancing platform capabilities. You’ll gain exposure to domain knowledge, modern tooling like GitHub Copilot, and cross-team collaboration, while continuously developing your technical skills.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our Newcastle office.
Your First 90 Days
You’ll join a collaborative engineering team working closely with Product Management, QA/XD, and other product lines across Sage. The team thrives on shared ownership, agile practices, and empowering one another to deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers.
How Success Will Be Measured
You’ll design, develop, and maintain software that supports core Sage products. This includes implementing features, fixing defects, participating in code reviews, refining estimates, enhancing technical documentation, and supporting production systems when needed. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners and continuously look for opportunities to improve code quality, performance, and user experience.

Your First 90 Days
- 30 days - Learn the product ecosystem, architecture, tooling, and team workflows.
- 60 days - Contribute to feature development, bug resolution, and code reviews.
- 90 days - Own development tasks end-to-end and actively support team delivery, quality standards, and technical improvements.

- Cross-functional collaboration with design, product, and QA teams

Qualifications
- Proven experience building and maintaining high-quality software solutions
- Experience with SaaS or cloud-based systems and modern development tooling
- Solid understanding of Agile practices such as Scrum, XP, or iterative development
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve defects across environments
- Willingness to collaborate, participate in code reviews, and support team delivery
- Good documentation habits and attention to detail
- Ability to provide 3rd-tier support for your area when needed
- Solid hands-on experience with C#, .NET Framework, and MySQL.
- Understanding of microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Basic understanding of event-driven architecture.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with BDD or automated testing frameworks.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
