About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer specializing in back-end development to join our dynamic team remotely from Santa Monica, CA. The ideal candidate will take ownership of complex technical challenges, driving solutions from concept through deployment. This role requires a proactive individual capable of working independently, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and maintaining high standards of code quality. The Software Developer will primarily focus on developing and maintaining Python-based applications and services, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects within a creative environment, supporting the development of tools and systems that enhance our content creation capabilities.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in Python development
• Expertise with web frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or similar
• Strong experience with both synchronous and asynchronous programming patterns
• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
• Production experience with AWS native services like Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS, and SNS
• Familiarity with distributed task frameworks such as Celery
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
• Strong understanding of testing frameworks including unittest and pytest
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Self-motivated with a strong ownership mentality and follow-through
• Ability to work independently and manage end-to-end solution development
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation (preferred)
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS, or EKS (preferred)
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and observability tools (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python applications and backend services to support creative workflows
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to best practices
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize existing systems to enhance performance and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including front-end developers, designers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing sessions
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes
• Contribute to the development of infrastructure automation using IaC tools
• Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and compliant with industry standards
• Monitor system performance and implement observability solutions to ensure system health
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and incorporate innovative solutions into projects
