Why This Role Exists

At CustomGPT.ai, we don't hire "design resources." We hire owners.

Our current product experience has gaps. Onboarding could be smoother. The builder dashboard could be more intuitive. Loading states could feel faster. These aren't styling problems - they are comprehension problems.

We need someone who wakes up thinking about these things. Someone who sees a confusing flow and can't sleep until it's fixed. Someone who treats the product like it's their own.

This is that role.

About CustomGPT.ai

CustomGPT.ai is a profitable, bootstrapped AI SaaS company. We let businesses create custom AI agents on their own data, fast, secure, with real ROI.

We've been recognized as one of the emerging leaders in AI alongside OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft. We have thousands of paying customers and real product-market fit, without VC pressure.

That means real ownership, real autonomy, and your work actually ships.

What You'll Own

  • Tooltips & Widget Experience : how our chatbots appear on customer websites
  • Builder UX : the dashboard where customers create and configure bots
  • End-User Chat Experience : UI, response perception, latency feel
  • Onboarding Flow : getting new users to their first successful bot
  • Design QA in Production : reviewing live product, not just Figma files

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

In your first few months, we'll know you're winning if:

  • You've shipped something to production (even something small)
  • You've identified 3+ "embarrassing" things in our UX and started fixing them
  • You own one major initiative (Tooltips redesign or Onboarding optimization)
  • Other team members say "the product feels better"
  • You've challenged at least one assumption successfully

Over time, this role grows into owning the entire product experience layer.

Who You Are

Product thinking, not pixel pushing

  • You ask "what behavior should change?" before opening Figma
  • You think in user outcomes, not screens
  • You know Figma is a tool, not the job

"Don't Make Me Think" obsession

  • Comprehension > reducing clicks
  • You design for people at minimum intent, not power users
  • You notice when things feel confusing, not just when they look wrong

Divine discontent

  • You see limitless improvement opportunities
  • The current state is always "embarrassing" , even when it's good
  • You're never satisfied

Ownership mentality

  • You see a problem, you fix it , you don't wait to be told
  • You use the product yourself and get frustrated when it's not right
  • You think about backward compatibility and existing users

3+ years in product/UX design for web applications

This Role is NOT For You If:

  • You're juggling multiple clients
  • You see design as "making things pretty"
  • You wait to be told what to do
  • Your job ends when the Figma file is approved
  • You ask "what do you want it to look like?" before understanding the problem

What We Offer

  • $4,000/month (full-time, remote)
  • Direct impact small team, your work ships and moves metrics
  • Big charter you own the experience, not just screens
  • AI-first product design matters MORE here, not less
  • Stable, long-term we want someone who grows with us
