The Role
We are seeking an exceptional ML Lead to lead our machine learning and computational acoustics initiatives. In this role, you will define RESONIKS’ long-term AI strategy, drive scientific innovation, and build the next generation of AI-powered resonance analysis systems. You will directly influence how acoustics, resonance, and AI converge to revolutionise the way metal components are inspected globally.
Responsibilities
- Together with the Team, define and lead the AI research roadmap in acoustic signal processing and resonance-based defect detection.
- Oversee the full AI model lifecycle, from concept to deployment to continuous improvement.
- Identify and prioritise emerging AI and acoustics research areas to keep RESONIKS ahead of the industry.
- Represent the company in academic, industrial, and research partnerships.
- Lead development of novel ML/DL algorithms for analysing complex acoustic datasets.
- Integrate AI solutions seamlessly into our automated inspection systems.
- Manage large-scale acoustic data pipelines, from collection to preprocessing to analysis.
- Optimise computing infrastructure (cloud systems, distributed training, HPC).
- Work closely with software, hardware, product, and engineering teams to create value for our customers
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, customers, and leadership.
- Mentor and guide AI researchers, engineers, and interns.
- 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience beyond academic research in Physics, Acoustics, Computer Science, AI, or a related field.
- Expertise in machine learning, signal processing, and computational modelling.
- Experience with sound classification, sound event detection, or other audio ML applications.
- Ability to apply AI techniques to complex physics or acoustics problems.
- Strong experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch (preferred), TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Advanced programming skills (Python).
- Familiarity with cloud computing and distributed model training.
- Experience with patents, tech transfer, or commercializing AI research.
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Leadership experience in research environments.
