Senior Data Platform Engineer / Architect
Platform & Data | AI-driven B2B SaaS | Global impact
I’m working with an AI-driven B2B SaaS company in the agri-tech / food-production space, using data and machine learning to optimise complex physical systems at scale.
This is not a volume hire. It’s a bar-raising, senior role for someone who genuinely enjoys building and operating serious systems.
The role sits at the intersection of backend engineering and data platform architecture. You’ll help shape and evolve a Databricks-based data platform while staying close to the code and influencing how teams across the company build with data.
They’re looking for someone who:
- Has built and operated production systems end-to-end
- Has hands-on experience with Databricks or Snowflake
- Is strong in Python and Golang
- Is comfortable spinning up APIs and backend services, not just pipelines
- Thinks in systems, not silos
- Cares more about impact than titles
Important: This is not a pure data engineering role. They are explicitly looking for a platform-minded engineer who can move comfortably between data platforms and backend services. Python-only or analytics-first profiles won’t be a fit.
The good stuff (tooling-forward):
- Modern data stack: Databricks, Delta Lake, dbt, Spark, Dagster
- Serious backend work: Golang, gRPC, event-driven AWS (SNS / SQS / EventBridge)
- Cloud done properly: AWS, Docker, ECS, Lambda
- Observability that actually works: Datadog
- AI-augmented development using Cursor + modern LLM tooling
And the practical perks:
- 2 days in the office per week
- Annual training budget, also budget for home office set-up and €50/month internet & phone reimbursement
- Pension
- Mental well-being guidance through with Openup.
- Unlimited holidays + Remote working (up to 4 weeks per year)
- Up to 120k for the right hire.
High autonomy. Low bureaucracy. Informal technical leadership. Real-world impact. Sparring partner to the CTO.
