We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead Backend (Java) to join a high-impact project, working with large-scale distributed systems in a cloud-native environment. This role combines strong hands-on technical leadership with people and stakeholder management.

Candidates must be living in Portugal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and guide backend engineering teams;
• Drive architectural and system design decisions;
• Develop and maintain backend services using Java & Spring Boot;
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and code quality;
• Mentor and support team members’ technical growth;
• Manage technical planning, dependencies, and risks;
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and directors;
• Balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities;
• Work in a remote/hybrid, international environment.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of backend development experience;
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot;
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices;
• Solid knowledge of REST APIs and SQL;
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
• Cloud experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP);
• Strong system design skills (Amazon/Google-level rigor);
• Proven technical leadership experience;
• English fluency (minimum B2).
