Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Experience Designer with focus on the Design System for our new office in Morbio, Canton Ticino, reporting to the Head of User Experience Design who is the owner of the design system and is a key shaper of the system.
The Experience Designer with Focus on the Design System evaluates, streamlines, and evolves Mobility’s existing design system into a scalable, cross-product foundation that serves the app, website, user registration/profile, and B2B platforms.
This role will audit the current library, identify fragmentation, unify patterns, and build a modern token-based system that improves consistency, accessibility, speed, and collaboration across all value streams.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and consolidate the current design system
· Audit existing UI components across all applications to understand inconsistencies.
· Consolidate components into one for all systems.
Build a cross-product design system
· Transform the existing library into a unified system for all products.
· Continuous updating of design tokens (colour, spacing, typography, motion, semantics).
· Re-architect components using modern Figma patterns (variants, variables, slot components).
· Standardize patterns for navigation, forms, interaction behaviour, and responsive layouts.
Partner closely with Engineering
· Align Figma components with existing coded components.
· Provide detailed specifications and design QA support.
· Collaborate on accessibility implementation and shared naming conventions.
Enable and support experience designers
· Onboard designers onto the design system.
· Build templates, starter kits, and usage examples.
· Support component request processes and ensure proper usage.
· Run “Design System Clinics” to maintain quality across value streams.
Lead accessibility improvements
· Ensure the system meets WCAG-AA standards.
· Create accessible defaults for components (colour contrast, touch targets, focus states, labels).
Document the system
· Build a clear, structured design system documentation hub.
· Document tokens, components, patterns, and accessibility guidance.
· Provide do/don’t examples, responsive rules, and best-practice usage.
· Communicate updates and release notes.
Required Skills and Experience
Must-Have
· 4–6+ years in Product, UX/UI Design
· Experience improving or rebuilding an existing design system
· Expert-level Figma skills (components, variables, libraries, auto-layout)
· Strong collaboration experience with frontend engineers
· Solid understanding of design tokens and cross-platform components
· Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards
· Ability to perform systematic DS audits and define consolidation strategies
· Comfortable setting up and maintaining design system documentation
Nice-to-Have
· Experience working with Storybook
· Familiarity with mobile frameworks such as React Native or SwiftUI
· Experience in multi-touchpoint ecosystems (app, web, platform)
· Experience working with Storyblok
