Role Overview
The Infrastructure System Administrator is responsible for the reliable operation, security, and optimization of Windows and Linux server environments, cloud resources, and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) across SFM Sports venues.
The role ensures high availability, performance, and security of on-premises and hybrid cloud systems through proactive monitoring, automation, troubleshooting, and adherence to best practices. This position plays a critical role in supporting business continuity and seamless IT operations across multiple venues.
Key Responsibilities
1. General System & Infrastructure Management
- Monitor server performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise tools such as Zabbix, Grafana, Nagios, and SolarWinds.
- Perform system backups, disaster recovery testing, and data integrity checks.
- Apply security patches, updates, and vulnerability remediation across all infrastructure components.
- Optimize system configurations, hardware utilization, and virtualization resources.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, runbooks, and incident records.
2. Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure Management
- Configure, monitor, and maintain cloud resources including virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Support hybrid cloud integrations such as directory synchronization and identity-aware services.
- Perform cloud cost optimization reviews and scaling activities.
- Troubleshoot cloud-related issues and collaborate with cloud architects on advanced deployments.
- Ensure compliance with cloud security, governance, and operational policies.
3. Windows & Linux Server Operations
- Administer Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, clustering, and failover.
- Manage Linux servers, with a strong focus on Red Hat-based distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux).
- Perform server hardening and firewall configuration in line with CIS benchmarks.
- Automate provisioning, patching, and maintenance using PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve server-related incidents and performance issues.
4. Active Directory & Identity Management
- Manage Active Directory users, groups, permissions, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Monitor AD health and replication; perform regular security and compliance audits.
- Support hybrid identity integrations with Azure AD.
- Enforce least-privilege access and conduct periodic access reviews.
- Support directory upgrades, migrations, and federation services.
5. Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) Operations
- Deploy and manage HCI clusters, including node configuration and storage pools.
- Balance workloads and optimize resource utilization across HCI nodes.
- Implement and test high-availability and disaster recovery mechanisms.
- Apply firmware and hypervisor updates to HCI platforms.
- Monitor system health using tools such as Nutanix Prism and VMware vSAN dashboards.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure administration.
- Minimum 2 years managing Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructures.
- Strong troubleshooting experience across Windows, Linux, and virtualization platforms.
- Experience with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
- Ability to support multi-site and fast-paced operational environments.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Microsoft Windows Server certifications
- Linux certifications (Red Hat or equivalent)
- VMware and/or Nutanix certifications
- Hyperconverged Infrastructure certifications
- Cloud platform certifications (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Key Technical Skills
- Advanced Windows Server administration (AD, GPO, clustering, PowerShell)
- Strong Linux administration skills (RHEL-based systems, scripting, performance tuning)
- Virtualization platforms: VMware and Nutanix
- Cloud infrastructure management (public and hybrid environments)
- Automation tools: PowerShell, Bash, Ansible
