SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The role manages relationships with customers in special-mention or non-performing status, working to negotiate repayment solutions, supports restructuring efforts, and maintains detailed oversight of account performance. It emphasizes strong follow-up, risk awareness, and compliance with recovery processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities
Special Asset Management:
• Manage an assigned portfolio of special-mention and non-performing accounts, ensuring timely follow-up to support recovery efforts and reduce potential losses.

• Engage clients proactively to understand their business needs, recommend suitable banking solutions or restructuring options, and cross-sell appropriate products (e.g., working capital facilities, cash management, trade finance) where recovery and business continuity are achievable.

• Lead follow-ups and negotiations with customers on repayment plans, restructuring terms, and documentation requirements, ensuring alignment with internal credit guidelines and supporting both recovery and potential business growth.

Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting:
• Monitor the performance of the assigned portfolio, identify early warning indicators, and escalate emerging risks to the Special Assets Team and relevant managers.

• Prepare periodic case updates, summary reports, and supporting analysis for management review, ensuring accuracy of data related to delinquency status, repayments, and recovery progress.

• Proactively engage with borrowers, other lenders, Facility Agents, and other departments in the Bank to obtain timely, relevant information and prepare written in-depth analysis and loan workout strategies that protect the Bank and strengthen its credit risk profile.

• Closely interact with key stakeholders in the Bank including Business Departments, Credit Risk and Approvals, and Credit Operations for the timely resolution of Special mention and non-performing loans.

• Prepare/review and recommend proposals/memos for renewals, restructure and enhancements while presenting the same to Credit risk along to higher committees if needed.

• Maintain up-to-date records of key metrics (e.g., overdue amounts, provisions, restructuring status) and recommend practical follow-up actions to address areas of concern within the portfolio.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
• Ensure all actions related to special assets are carried out in line with regulatory requirements, internal credit policies, and approved recovery procedures.

• Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit teams by providing case information, responding to queries, and supporting the implementation of corrective measures as needed.



Requirements

• Omani nationals only
• Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or any other related fields.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in the banking sector with 4 years of Experience in Special Asset Management
