The Helsinki Geoeconomics Society is appointing several part-time, performance-linked “Head of” roles within its Secretariat for the 2026 cycle. These roles are designed for exceptionally reliable students or early-career professionals who want real responsibility inside a serious institutional build, alongside studies or early professional commitments.

The Secretariat translates the Society’s intellectual work into institutional outcomes: funding traction, disciplined communications, operational coordination, and a reliable digital presence. Secretariat leads work in proximity to senior practitioners and scholars involved in the New Helsinki Process and the drafting of the Helsinki Manual on Corporate Geoeconomics, while owning a clearly defined functional area.

These roles are not internships and not volunteer positions. They are side roles with real ownership, light supervision, and expectations of professional conduct. Compensation is performance-linked, with concrete remuneration mechanisms defined per role.

We are appointing several roles in parallel; depending on applications, not all positions may be filled.

Qualifications

These roles are suitable for students or early-career professionals who demonstrate:

  • reliable written communication and follow-through
  • comfort working independently with light supervision
  • composure in ambiguous or evolving situations
  • good judgment and discretion
  • capacity for a sustained part-time commitment alongside other obligations

Formal credentials matter less than reliability, clarity, and judgment.

Who should not apply

These roles are not suitable if you are looking for:

  • a full-time position or guaranteed income;
  • a traditional internship with close supervision;
  • narrowly predefined tasks and checklists;
  • a marketing, social media, or content-creation role;
  • a CV line without corresponding responsibility.

If you prefer frequent direction over independent judgment, or are uncomfortable with performance-linked compensation, this is unlikely to be a good fit.

How to apply

Applications are handled via LinkedIn only.

Send a short LinkedIn message (3–5 sentences) indicating:

  • which role(s) you are interested in, and
  • why a part-time, performance-linked role of this kind suits you.

You may include a CV or profile link, but no formal application form is required at this stage.
