Databox, a fast-growing SaaS company that helps other companies monitor and improve their business performance, is looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer (Backend)
The Team
Our Product and Engineering team has over 50 members with extensive experience in frontend/mobile/backend development, UI/UX design, product growth, and analytics. Using modern architectural design principles, our backend infrastructure is split into several major components including data calculations (crunching user data), data rendering, platform core & services and application business logic. The majority of our applications and services are built using Node.js, Typescript, PHP, .NET and Java.
As our needs evolve, we keep exploring new tools and ideas and love working alongside people who are willing to try new things. Mentoring, code reviews, writing tests, and engaging in blameless postmortems are only some of our core engineering principles. We celebrate achievements, encourage personal growth, structure knowledge sharing, and have fun doing it all.
The Work
- Be actively involved in planning, implementing, and maintaining modern container-based backend solutions
- Write, review, and maintain code primarily in PHP and C# and related technologies
- Work closely with our product managers and other engineers on the best user experience possible
- lead team initiatives, take initiative to push it forward and see it to the successful implementation and maintenance
- Cooperate with other teams to come up with the best technical solutions
- Help onboard and mentor other engineers
- Develop as an individual and directly contribute to a growing team
- 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer with a track record of building modular systems, simple solutions, and high-quality code
- Since new programming languages can be learned quickly, we care much more about your general engineering skills than knowledge of a particular language or framework
- Experience working with relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL)
- Highly valuable: the ability to write clear and efficient code that performs at scale
- A solid understanding of OO and MVC design principles, RESTful APIs, caching concepts, the HTTP protocol, and general web architecture
- Being an open-minded team player with the ability to take the initiative, be accountable, work independently, enjoy an increased level of responsibility, help the team to grow fast, help others and learn quickly
- Enjoying working across layers of the stack and doing all it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally.
We encourage our team members to challenge themselves, learn from each other, grow in their roles, and balance their work with life. We offer competitive compensation, personal and professional development opportunities, and a positive team atmosphere.
