About The Opportunity

Are you passionate about both data analysis and AdTech troubleshooting? Do you thrive on solving complex analytical challenges while debugging technical issues in the advertising technology space? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Technical Support team at Teads as a data-focused TechOps Engineer. Based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, you'll be the critical bridge between our data infrastructure and our business stakeholders, providing essential data support and technical troubleshooting to Account Managers, Sales teams, Product teams, and other stakeholders worldwide.

What will you do?

As a TechOps Engineer, your primary responsibility is delivering data-driven insights and analytical support to our global business teams. You'll spend most of your time querying our databases (BigQuery, Vertica, MySQL) to provide campaign performance analysis, advertiser reports, and ad hoc data requests that drive business decisions.

Data Analysis & Support (70% of role)

  • Query databases (BigQuery, Vertica, MySQL) to fulfill data requests from Account Managers, Sales, Product teams and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with Account Managers to brainstorm and provide ad hoc data support for high-profile accounts
  • Lead training sessions to onboard new team members and enhance existing team knowledge of our database architecture, schema relationships, and query best practices
  • Build and maintain SQL queries for recurring reports
  • Calculate and analyze AdTech metrics (CPC, CTR, CPM, ROAS, conversion rates, etc)
  • Create data exports and reports in Google Sheets/Excel with pivot tables, calculated metrics, and visualizations
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies by pulling raw data, analyzing patterns, and identifying root causes
  • Document common data requests and build a knowledge base of reusable queries
  • Ensure requests through Slack, Salesforce, and email are promptly addressed

Technical Support & Collaboration (30% of role)

  • Collaborate with R&D, AdOps, and Product teams on miscellaneous technical and analytical challenges
  • Perform deep-dive campaign troubleshooting by analyzing campaign configurations, performance trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities
  • Conduct calls with clients to explain data, resolve reporting issues, and clarify metrics
  • Troubleshoot technical issues escalated by AdOps that require deeper investigation related to both data and campaign troubleshooting
  • Share insights that contribute to product improvements and operational efficiency

What will you bring to the team?

Your Skills And Experiences

  • Core SQL & Data Analysis (most critical)
    • Strong SQL proficiency with experience querying large datasets (BigQuery, Vertica, MySQL, or similar)
    • Ability to write complex queries: multi-table JOINs, subqueries, CTEs, window functions, date/time functions, aggregations
    • Experience calculating metrics and handling edge cases
    • Understanding of database performance and query optimization principles
  • Reporting & Business Intelligence
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas
    • Experience creating automated reports and dashboards for business stakeholders
    • Ability to present data clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Communication & Work Style
    • Strong communication skills for translating data insights to business stakeholders
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
    • Self-driven learner who stays current with SQL best practices and data analysis techniques
    • Attention to detail when handling data accuracy and quality
    • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Technical Tools
    • Proficiency with SQL editors and IDEs (e.g., DataGrip, VS Code, or similar)
    • Basic understanding of data formats (CSV, JSON, Excel)
  • AdTech Domain Knowledge (can be learned on the job)
    • Understanding of digital advertising metrics: impressions, clicks, CPC, CTR, CPM, ROAS
    • Familiarity with campaign structures and advertiser reporting needs
    • Prior experience in AdTech support, analytics, or operations; alternatively, a strong interest in learning the AdTech domain
Bonus Points

  • Platform & Tool Experience
    • Experience with BigQuery specifically
    • Familiarity with BI tools (Looker)
    • Knowledge of Salesforce and Jira for tracking data requests
    • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or similar tools
  • Advanced Technical Skills
    • Basic understanding of web technologies (JavaScript, HTML)
    • Familiarity with Chrome Developer Tools for debugging
    • Basic Git knowledge and command line comfort
    • Some scripting ability (Python, JavaScript) for data manipulation and automation
    • API proficiency and experience with tools like Postman or Insomnia
  • General
    • Previous experience in a data-focused support or technical operations role
    • Understanding of data visualization best practices
