Cloud DevOps Architect

We're working with a leading financial services client who are seeking a Cloud DevOps Architect who will be responsible for designing, building, and evolving the organisation’s cloud and DevOps platforms. The successful candidate you will need to demonstrate good hands-on leadership and be able to focus on enabling modern application delivery through scalable, secure, and automated cloud-native solutions. The role supports digital transformation by establishing strong platform foundations, standards, and engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the cloud and DevOps platform roadmap, architecture, and governance.
• Design and optimise cloud-native and DevOps engineering practices across teams.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Champion best practices in cloud architecture, CI/CD, IaC, security, observability, and cost optimisation.
• Provide architectural guidance across the full solution lifecycle.
• Monitor and improve platform reliability, performance, and operational health.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and compliant with enterprise standards.
• Develop reusable patterns, reference architectures, and automation to standardise platform usage.
• Mentor engineers and support teams through cloud and DevOps transformation.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in platform, systems, or solutions architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS).
• Proven expertise in CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform).
• Experience with cloud networking and systems integration.
• Working knowledge of API management/gateway platforms.
• Experience with container technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, managed container services, Docker).
• Strong stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills.
• Experience mentoring teams and driving engineering best practices.
• Fluent English (written and verbal).

Desirable Experience

• Experience with container orchestration platforms.
• Exposure to database DevOps or CI/CD tooling.
• Experience in enterprise or regulated environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
