Senior Project Manager – Anti-Financial Crime (AFC)

Zürich | Hybrid working (2 days per week in office)

We are hiring a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex Anti-Financial Crime technology programmes for financial institutions operating in highly regulated environments.

This role sits at the heart of a global RegTech organisation whose platforms are used daily by banks to detect, investigate, and prevent financial crime. These are mission-critical systems supporting AML, KYC, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and fraud prevention at scale.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking control of delivery, setting clear direction, and challenging clients and internal stakeholders when required to protect project outcomes, platform integrity, and regulatory correctness.

You will be expected to:

• Bring structure and clarity to complex delivery environments, helping align timelines, scope, and expectations early
• Translate regulatory and business needs into delivery plans that are technically sound and operationally realistic
• Provide clear direction across internal teams and client stakeholders to keep projects moving in the right direction
• Make considered decisions when priorities compete, and communicate those decisions clearly and transparently

This role requires sound judgement and the confidence to guide delivery in a way that protects both the platform and the outcome, even when that means slowing things down to get it right.

You do not need to write code, but you must understand how these systems function, how they are implemented, and why delivery decisions have regulatory consequences.

The role

As Senior Project Manager, you will own the end-to-end delivery of projects related to a leading Anti-Financial Crime Suite, working closely with engineering, product, data science, and consulting teams.

You will act as the primary authority on delivery, ensuring projects are executed within agreed scope, timelines, and quality standards, while maintaining strong and credible relationships with demanding, senior client stakeholders.

This role carries real responsibility and influence, not just coordination where AFC knowledge is essential. To succeed in this role, you must genuinely understand AML and KYC, not just from policy or governance, but its impact and how the technology used makes an impact.

That includes hands-on exposure to topics such as:

• Transaction monitoring and alert workflows
• Customer risk scoring and KYC lifecycle management
• Sanctions and watchlist screening
• Case management and investigator tooling
• Regulatory reporting, audit trails, and explainability
• Data quality, thresholds, tuning, and false positives
• Integrations with core banking systems and external data providers

What we are looking for

• Proven experience leading delivery of complex software or data-driven platforms in financial services
• Strong, practical knowledge of AML and KYC topics
• Demonstrated ability to challenge clients constructively and defend delivery decisions
• Experience managing risk, dependencies, and conflicting priorities
• Comfortable operating in environments with regulatory pressure and high expectations
• Experience with Agile delivery models such as Scrum or Kanban
• Strong communication skills, especially when navigating difficult conversations
• Fluent German language skills (and English)
