About The Role
We are seeking a Swift QA Engineer to drive the quality strategy across our multi-platform application ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Watch). This is a highly technical role where your primary focus will be on test automation implementation using Swift and native client frameworks like XCTest/XCUI.
Operating as an experienced Individual Contributor, you will be responsible for defining the automation strategy, tools, and best practices for the products. You must possess a strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and the ability to work independently in ambiguous, massive-scale environments.
You will execute deep functional and User Experience (UX) testing, identify issues through detailed bug reports (including stack traces and root cause analysis), and ensure our features meet the highest standards of visual and functional polish.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Leadership: Architect, implement, and maintain the automated test suite primarily using Swift-based frameworks (XCTest/XCUI), integrated with existing CI/CD tools (Jenkins/GitHub Actions).
- Multi-Platform Testing: Plan, document, and execute test cases and strategies across iOS/iPadOS (principal focus), macOS, and watchOS.
- Functional & Regression: Perform E2E (End-to-End) and functional regression testing to cover critical flows.
- Triage & Analysis: Identify, reproduce, and file detailed bug reports that include device context, stack traces, and potential root cause analysis.
- UX & Polish: Maintain a strong focus on the visual and functional polish of features, reporting and prioritising visual coherence and UX issues that violate interface guidelines.
- Tooling & Scripting: Support test workflows by using Unix/Shell Scripting and Python for test automation and data handling.
- Specialised Testing: Execute specialised testing related to hardware functionality (e.g., Bluetooth, sensors, or accessories).
- Experience Level: 14+ years of professional experience with proven success building and supporting applications at a massive, global scale.
- Automation Deep Dive: Extensive experience in test automation, ideally using XCTest/XCUI, and a strong interest in integrating with third-party test platforms.
- Language Proficiency: Strong experience in Swift programming for test case implementation.
- Scripting: Proficiency in Unix/Shell Scripting and Python for supporting test workflows.
- Methodology: Proven experience in manual QA testing and structured test methodologies (including UAT).
- UX Focus: Strong focus on user experience, functional accuracy, and the ability to contribute to the quality review of the visual polish.
- Autonomy & Leadership: Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and define the automation strategy, tools, and best practices for the team.
- Knowledge of Objective-C, SwiftUI, or other Apple development tools.
- Familiarity with automation pipelines, test dashboards, or reporting systems (e.g., integrating test results into Prometheus/Grafana).
