The Security Architect plays a strategic and technical role in shaping how security is embedded into AutoStore’s systems, infrastructure, products, and transformation initiatives. This role bridges the gap between cybersecurity, IT, product development, and business enablement, ensuring that secure design, scalable controls, and risk mitigation are built into technology from the outset.
Reporting to the CISO, the Security Architect defines secure design principles, reviews solution architectures, and partners with Engineering, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Application teams to guide secure delivery. The goal is to move from reactive compliance to security-by-design, enabling innovation while protecting data, reputation, and customer trust.
Job Responsibilities:
Secure Architecture & Design
- Develop and drive a unified enterprise security architecture framework that addresses AutoStore’s hybrid landscape (cloud, SaaS, on-prem, OT environments, and managed services).
- Collaborate with Infrastructure teams to uplift network segmentation, identity boundaries, and secure connectivity across warehouses, corporate networks, and cloud platforms.
- Lead security architecture reviews, ensuring scalable control patterns that can be consistently implemented across global sites.
- Convert high-level risks into practical, low-friction control recommendations that engineering teams can directly apply.
- Act as the bridge between IT, product engineering, and business operations, shifting the organisation toward security-by-default rather than afterthought.
- Advise on secure networking technologies and architectures, including zero trust, software-defined networking, and secure hybrid/cloud connectivity.
Define architectural requirements for foundational security layers that AutoStore currently lacks or is maturing into, including but not limited to:
- Identity and Access Architecture (Zero Trust, role architecture, workload identity, federation)
- Secure configuration and hardening baselines across infrastructure, network and cloud platforms
- Provide architectural input on technology investments, ensuring tools deliver value and align with maturity.
- Define and maintain technical security standards and reference architectures tailored to AutoStore’s environment and maturity.
- Ensure architecture supports compliance and audit requirements (ISO 27001, NIST CSF GDPR, ICFR), while remaining practical and scalable.
- Introduce governance mechanisms for architecture review, exception handling, and design assurance.
- Stay current with advances in cloud security, robotics/OT security, and secure software architectures.
- Continuously evolve security patterns to support AutoStore’s automation platform at scale.
- Drive simplification and modernisation of the security architecture as part of the broader organisational transformation.
- Proven security architecture expertise with solid grounding in cloud security across Azure, supported by core certifications such as CISSP/CCSP and formal training in secure design, identity architecture, and modern network segmentation
- Hands-on engineering experience, with a strong track record of working closely with engineers to design, implement, and operationalize security solutions
- A strategic, collaborative, and business-minded security leader who combines technical depth with pragmatism, excels at simplifying complexity, builds strong cross-functional partnerships, and consistently drives security-by-design thinking across engineering and operations
- Advanced cloud provider architecture certifications, training in zero trust and secure software engineering, and exposure to OT/ICS security or robotics/automation environments is beneficial to have
- Industry experience in robotics, automation, advanced manufacturing, logistics-tech, cloud-native SaaS, and engineering organisations requiring secure-by-design architecture is highly regarded
- A Collaborative & Inclusive Culture where we celebrate and value everyone’s contributions, encouraging diverse perspectives in decision-making.
- Work-Life Balance & Well-being: We offer 1 hour per week of paid exercise, health insurance, and a generous pension plan, prioritizing your mental and physical well-being.
- A Creative and Safe Workplace by joining a company experiencing rapid growth, with the stability of being Norway’s first unicorn listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.
- International and Supportive Environment within a Norwegian multinational that values collaboration and innovation with a structured onboarding plan and career opportunities within the company
