Who Are We?

The CanadaVisa Media / Cohen Immigration Law Group is an industry leader in providing web tools and professional services to those seeking to come to Canada and newcomers alike. We have the most popular online private Canadian immigration platform that reaches millions of people worldwide every year. Our web properties include CanadaVisa.com, CanadaVisaPlus.com and CICNews.com.

Canadian immigration targets continue to hit record levels year over year. In response, CanadaVisa Media is undertaking ambitious plans to develop first-of-their-kind web products for Canada’s fastest growing demographic: newcomers. We believe these plans have the potential to reach unprecedented scale for our industry, while providing immense value and support to Canadian newcomers.

The Role

As a Product Owner at CanadaVisa Media, you will own the day-to-day product direction for newly launching projects and evolving platforms. You’ll work closely with engineering and business stakeholders to identify the highest-value problems to solve, translate customer needs into clear requirements, and drive delivery through an agile process.

This is a hands-on role in a startup-like environment: you’ll help shape the roadmap, run discovery, manage trade-offs, and ensure we ship product experiences that are reliable, compliant, and genuinely helpful for users making one of the most important decisions of their lives.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Own the product backlog and priorities: Maintain a clear, actionable backlog; write user stories, acceptance criteria, and ensure the team always has the next best work lined up.
  • Lead discovery and define outcomes: Gather insights through user feedback, analytics, stakeholder input, and research; define problems, success metrics, and validate solutions before scaling.
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders: Collaborate with leadership, editorial, sales, support, and legal/professional services teams to balance needs and communicate decisions clearly.
  • Partner with engineering to deliver: Plan goals, clarify scope, unblock decisions quickly, and accept completed work against criteria while keeping quality and user experience high.
  • Measure performance and iterate: Define KPIs, monitor releases, learn from results, and continuously improve product performance, usability, and conversion/retention outcomes.
  • Champion user trust, privacy, and compliance: Ensure product requirements consider sensitive user data, consent, and safe handling of immigration-related information.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar product delivery role on a digital product
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguous problems into clear requirements, stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Comfort using data to make decisions (funnels, cohort retention, event tracking, A/B tests, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management—able to say “no” (or “not now”) with clarity and context
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineers and understanding technical trade-offs (you don’t need to code)

Nice to Have

  • Experience in marketplaces, subscription products, content platforms, or high-traffic consumer web products
  • Familiarity with user research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing) and experimentation
  • Background in regulated or trust-centric domains (legal, finance, healthcare) or handling sensitive user data
  • Experience with product tooling like Notion, Figma, GA4, Metabase, etc.

How We Work

  • Agile delivery with continuous improvement—your input will help shape standards, patterns, and practices
  • A small, collaborative team with high ownership and high impact
  • A user-first mindset: we build tools that reduce confusion and help people make confident decisions
