We are supporting a public sector organisation on the development of a highly interactive, web-based geospatial application used for urban planning simulations and studies. This role sits within a multidisciplinary engineering team building tools that directly support planning, analysis, and decision-making.
You will work closely with designers, product stakeholders, and engineers to deliver scalable, maintainable frontend features with strong performance and usability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance interactive frontend features for a geospatial web application, working independently on assigned components
- Collaborate with users and UI/UX designers to translate requirements into intuitive, high-quality interfaces
- Integrate frontend components with cloud, GIS technologies, APIs, and SDKs
- Write unit tests and maintain technical documentation for new features
- Own the end-to-end feature lifecycle, from design and implementation through deployment
- Respond actively to product feedback, balancing immediate fixes with longer-term improvements
- Contribute to and uphold coding standards, frontend best practices, and architectural guidelines
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in modern web technologies, including TypeScript and React
- Solid understanding of frontend architecture patterns and software design principles
- Experience or exposure to cloud-based environments
- Familiarity with unit and/or integration testing practices
- Ability to manage work independently with good planning and prioritisation skills
- Interest in building technology that supports public sector or urban planning use cases
Preferred Background
- Experience working on complex, data-heavy or interactive web applications
- Exposure to GIS, geospatial, or simulation-based systems is advantageous
