The role

The Analytics (UW) team is responsible for providing analytical support to Underwriting to help manage the performance of a portfolio of products at ERS. The team own the production of the regular dashboards and datasets used for deep dive analysis, ensuring best practice data standards. The role holder has responsibility to monitor and report on the financial and underwriting performance of the ERS product portfolio and provide general analytical support to the UW team to help manage the portfolio.

They will work closely with the Claims, Underwriting, Pricing, and IT teams as well as other stakeholders across the business, so it is important they are comfortable in owning processes and are able to develop strong business relationships.

Working in a fast paced, agile environment, this role offers you the ability to influence change with exposure to the Senior Management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data assets and analytical tools to support the business.
  • Provision of data and insights to track product performance, manage risk appetite and make trading decisions.
  • Conduct regular review of Management Information (MI), highlighting areas of concern and business opportunity to help shape the longer-term strategic goals for the proposition.
  • Own the regular Production of monthly Underwriting performance packs, which include analysis and commentary of key trends and data-led change recommendations.
  • Support financial planning and help track key indicators of performance against the business plan.
  • Support the implementation of best practise (data / analysis) standards across the team.
  • Embody and amplify the IQUW values in all aspects of day-to-day activity ensuring that all interactions and engagements are carried out with the highest ethical and professional standards and that

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

The role provides support to an underwriting team responsible for a product, or product portfolio. We expect our people to demonstrate the following skills, attributes, and knowledge:

  • Experience working with a range of data types, including structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience in using a range of software applications for data analysis, including SQL & PowerBI
  • Ability to organise, analyse and draw appropriate insight from data when answering a specific problem.
  • Works with structure and able to produce work in a timely manner.
  • Articulate and numerate, paying attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team player who brings out the best in others.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain value adding relationships.
