Financial Controller at atNorth
The purpose of the Financial Controller role is to support the Director of Accounting in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across the atNorth Group, while taking operational ownership of fixed asset accounting, asset register maintenance, and project accounting.
The role contributes to strong financial control, compliance with IFRS and local GAAP, and the effectiveness of internal controls, and supports continuous improvement of accounting processes. The role facilitates effective cross-functional collaboration and consistent service delivery by maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting internal and external reporting, and promoting operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities for group entities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Assist in preparing financial statements in line with IFRS and local requirements.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency in financial reporting.
- Support preparation of Group and statutory accounts, tax calculations and year‑end audit materials.
- Maintain and control the fixed asset register.
- Ensure correct capitalisation, depreciation, impairment and disposals in line with IFRS and internal policies.
- Monitor asset movements and reconcile fixed assets and project costs to the general ledger.
- Support project capitalisation and handover to fixed assets.
- Collaborate with development, operations and procurement on accurate cost allocation and reporting.
- Support compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for accounting activities.
- Assist with continuous process improvement within the accounting function.
- Work closely with the Director of Accounting, Business Control and local finance teams.
- Maintain regular communication with HQ and the wider finance organisation.
- Provide support to other finance team members as needed.
Financial Accuracy & Compliance
- Solid understanding of IFRS and general bookkeeping principles.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accurate and compliant financial processing.
- Good knowledge of internal controls, reconciliations and audit requirements.
- Good understanding of VAT regulations.
- Basic knowledge of corporate income tax; deeper tax experience is an advantage.
- Ability to collaborate with external tax advisors and support tax reporting and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit or financial controlling.
- Experience with VAT, tax matters, fixed assets and/or project accounting is an advantage.
- Experience with accounting systems (Dynamics 365 F&O preferred).
- Experience in a group or multi-entity environment.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with senior finance stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and proactive problem-solving mindset.
