TL;DR - Who We’re Looking For

We’re hiring a Junior Backend Engineer who’s smart, ambitious, and moves fast.

You’ll help us build and maintain the backend systems behind our live mobile racing game (Highway Racer Pro) and our internal tools (LiveOps, DevOps/CI-CD). You don’t need to know everything yet, but you need a strong foundation, high ownership, and the ability to ship (using AI properly is a plus).

What You’ll Work On

• Game backend support: help maintain and improve the services behind Highway Racer Pro (we use Nakama and Heroic Labs (Hiro) infrastructure).
• Internal tools: build features for our in-house tools used by the team (LiveOps tooling, dashboards, automation, configs, etc.).
• Speed up the game team: create backend solutions that remove bottlenecks and help the team ship faster.
• Sustainable systems: write backend code that’s reliable, testable, and doesn’t break at 3 am.
• Debug + operate: investigate issues, fix root causes, and improve monitoring/logging so problems are visible before players feel them.

Responsibilities

• Implement backend features end-to-end (from “what do we need?” to “shipped + monitored”).
• Write clean APIs/services and integrate them with the game and internal tools.
• Handle data flows and configs used by LiveOps (events, offers, segmentation, etc.).
• Improve CI/CD and developer workflow when needed (small automation wins matter).
• Work closely with game devs, product, and growth. Backend is a multiplier role here.

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Solid fundamentals in backend engineering: APIs, databases, basic architecture, and debugging.
• Comfortable with one server-side language (Go is a plus, but not required).
• Basic experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL), and knowing when to use what.
• Can read documentation, learn fast, and unblock yourself.
• Can communicate clearly and ask the right questions (no hero silent suffering).

Big Pluses (Nice-to-Have)

• Any exposure to Go, Nakama, Heroic Labs, or game backend patterns.
• Understanding of LiveOps needs (events, offers, player segmentation, feature flags).
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and why they matter.
• Uses AI tools effectively to move faster (without shipping garbage).

What Success Looks Like (First 3 Months)

• You ship meaningful improvements to internal tools and/or game backend.
• You can take small-to-medium tasks and deliver them with minimal supervision.
• You reduce friction for the game team (less manual work, fewer repeated issues).
• You improve reliability: fewer bugs, better logs, better monitoring, better sleep.
