Application Design Engineer

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled Technical Pre-Sales Specialist to join our team and drive the adoption of Machine Automation. You will work closely with our global sales teams to provide technical expertise and solution guidance to customers and partners within the Packaging, Food & Beverage (F&B), and Intralogistics sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full technical support for machine automation projects of our OEM customers.
• Design solutions, develop application software, and perform testing and debugging at OEM sites.
• Support OEMs in the selection, testing, commissioning, and installation of our products and solutions.
• Understand customer needs and take necessary actions to create appropriate solutions, forwarding potential opportunities to the sales team.
• Communicate the advantages, differentiators, and technical features of our products to customers.
• Ensure the entire customer journey aligns with the sales process.
• Take a proactive approach to customer satisfaction.

Key Qualifications

• Expertise in industrial automation and solution architecture.
• Understanding of the automation market in Packaging, F&B, and Intralogistics (vertical packaging).
• Ability to integrate new technologies into existing systems.
• Experience in robotic projects (Delta, SCARA, Cobots, etc.).
• Strong commercial acumen to support the sales team.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly.

Detailed Responsibilities

Sales Enablement:

• Support the sales team in winning customers and projects.
• Provide solution support to internal teams and external parties, including manufacturers, system integrators, and end users.
• Assist customers in developing their own solutions.

Customer Engagement:

• Understand customer challenges and tailor solutions accordingly.
• Conduct discovery sessions, workshops, and roadmap discussions.
• Lead projects and site deployments.
• Execute project programming offline and manage onsite testing processes.

Technical Ownership:

• Design and build solution architecture.
• Create technical documentation and guides.
• Validate large-scale projects and optimize system architecture for scalability.

Training and Advocacy:

• Support training needs and host workshops.
• Create white papers, best practice guides, and case studies.
• Represent the company in industry forums and develop technical marketing content.

Deliverables

• Machine Software: Build and maintain OEM machine software, personalize it to customer needs, and handle Q&A.
• Workshops: Host training sessions, apply design guidelines, and address challenges.
• System Architectures: Design, implement, and test solutions; attend site machine testing with customers.
• Project Support: Assist customers and integrators in project execution and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Documentation: Document processes and changes, create use cases and success stories, and share knowledge.

Education, Experience, and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related fields.
• Background in vertical packaging, motion, and servo applications.
• Knowledge of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and IT/OT convergence.
• Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and JavaScript is advantageous.
• Hands-on knowledge of industrial protocols such as Sercos, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to simplify complex technical concepts for engineers, customers, and executives.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging both technical and business audiences.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automation solution development and programming within the vertical packaging industry.

Travel

This role will require approximately 30–50% travel.
