Role Overview:

The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, validation, and implementation of data center and Kubernetes networking for Open Innovation AI’s platform deployments. Working closely with Systems Engineering and Development teams, the Network Engineer contributes to network design preparation, BOQ review, automation development, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of networking components across on-premises and hybrid environments

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the preparation of network designs and technical documentation, including LLDs, topology diagrams, and deployment plans.
  • Review vendor BOQs and design packages to ensure accuracy, compliance with architecture standards, and suitability for system integration.
  • Support the development of standardized configuration templates, automation work-flows, and deployment guidelines used across customer environments.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise for data center networking, routing, switching, and Kubernetes networking concepts within the Systems Engineering team.
  • Ensure network designs correctly account for high-performance networking requirements, including RoCE or InfiniBand-based connectivity for GPU clusters and distributed AI workloads.
  • Collaborate with Platform and Systems teams to validate integration between data center networks and HPC fabrics, ensuring consistency in performance, latency, and architecture alignment.
  • Collaborate with architects, platform engineers, and DevOps teams to ensure network requirements are correctly incorporated into product and platform designs.
  • Assist in validating new network designs, hardware platforms, and integration approach-es in lab or staging environments before production rollout.
  • Offer technical guidance to internal teams and deployment engineers, ensuring consistent implementation of approved networking standards.
  • Support escalations for complex networking issues, coordinating with architects and vendors where necessary.
  • Maintain internal documentation, runbooks, and reference materials to support standardization and operational readiness across projects.

Qualification, Experience, Competence and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 4–7 years of experience in network engineering within data center, cloud, or large-scale distributed environments.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing technical design documentation such as LLDs, topology diagrams, and cabling/interconnect plans.
  • Practical experience reviewing vendor proposals and BOQs, with strong attention to de-tail in validating hardware requirements and architectural alignment.
  • Strong understanding of L2/L3 networking concepts, routing protocols, and modern data center network design principles.
  • Working knowledge of HPC networking concepts, including RoCE-based high-performance fabrics or InfiniBand-based cluster networking, and how they integrate with compute and storage architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes networking fundamentals, including CNI concepts, ingress/egress patterns, network policies, and service connectivity models.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python for configuration standardization and deployment workflows.
  • Familiarity with network performance, monitoring, and telemetry considerations in large-scale or distributed environments.
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and engaging vendors for technical escalations, design clarifications, or deployment support.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across architecture, platform, and delivery teams.
  • Professional networking certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent are preferred; advanced or cloud/data center certifications are an advantage
