Data Team Lead

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to lead, mentor, and grow a data team!

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys data platform development, setting technical direction, and enabling teams to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions.

You’ll combine hands-on technical skills with leadership, while fostering engineering best practices across the team

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and develop a team of data engineers and analytics engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship
• Own the design and evolution of our data platform, pipelines, and tooling
• Set engineering standards for data quality, testing, observability, and reliability
• Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions
• Drive best practices in CI/CD, version control, and infrastructure-as-code for data systems
• Balance strategic planning with hands-on contribution where needed
• Support hiring, onboarding, and performance development within the data team

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong background in software or data engineering, with experience building production-grade systems
• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers in a technical environment
• Solid understanding of data architecture, including data warehouses/lakes, ETL pipelines, and APIs
• Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g. Python, Java, Scala)
• Experience with modern data stacks and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiarity with DevOps and engineering best practices (CI/CD, monitoring, automation)
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

• Experience transitioning teams from ad-hoc analytics to well-engineered data platforms
• Exposure to streaming data or real-time systems
• Experience working closely with ML or data science teams
• Previous responsibility for data governance or platform reliability
