Lead Business Intelligence Analyst
Job Summary:
Analyze FM and industry data to deliver timely, actionable insights on emerging trends that influence senior management decisions. Support corporate objectives by evaluating leadership driven hypotheses. Produce trend analyses, forecasts, sentiment analysis, and other analytical outputs that surface previously unknown insights and drive strategic business action. Produce portfolio trend analysis and forecast reports and conduct operational analysis to advance knowledge in improvements, efficiencies and overall business experience. Participate in the development of standards, provide consultation with respect to data integrity concerns and work cross- departmentally to mitigate risks to changes which impact the way information is captured and distributed. Implement opportunities for emerging technologies (i.e. artificial intelligence, machine learning, SPSS, dashboards, etc.) Remain aware of system changes and resulting data impacts. Cultivate intellectual curiosity to advance business knowledge and technical skills.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Description:
- Perform lead role in the BI collaboration with FM business units in support of the various analytic and data reporting needs. Concrete understanding of business problems and the approach to analyze these problems. Ensure internal and external customers are provided with excellent support, immediate response to problems and data quality. Recommend innovative approaches for the processing of complete requests yet ensuring all business needs are met. Interprets business requirements and delivers optimum BI solutions to meet needs. Ensure tools, reporting, dashboards, etc. meet Corporate Standards and Security best practices.
- Extract and assemble data from internal insurance, reinsurance, claims, loss, engineering and other FM sources that will aid in decision-making and input for Underwriting procedures / guidelines, management tools, engineering processes, etc. Maximize the value of existing data sources and identify new data sources with potential value. Connect and leverage the data across internal and external sources to advance knowledge in the overall performance of the company. Solicit and integrate feedback to develop innovative solutions (i.e. dashboards, BI reporting, etc.) to better serve our customer’s needs.
- Lead projects to automate data collection, database population, distribution, etc. Implement opportunities for emerging technologies (i.e. artificial intelligence, machine learning, SPSS, dashboards, etc.). May work cross-functionally with Agile or Innovation for implementation.
- Identify and recommend measurable key performance indicators goals to ensure Data Analytics is providing quality results and customer service. Ensure metrics are documented and tracked.

- Effective problem solving, decision making and strong analytical skills are a must.
- Efficient time management and the ability to realign priorities based on business need.
- Excellent computer skills across various hardware systems and PCs are a must.
- The ideal candidate will possess intellectual curiosity, subject matter level business expertise and advanced knowledge and proficiency in the use of Excel, Access, SQL Server, Power BI, data management with aptitude in some of the following: R, Python, SAS, SPSS, industry standard tools, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Except where required by licensure or regulation a combination of comparable education and experience may be used to satisfy qualification requirement.
Education:
Minimum Education Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
- 4 Year / bachelor's degree
Specific Degree, if required (ex - Engineering, Juris Doctorate, etc)-
- Bachelor of Science degree – mathematics, business, statistics, business intelligence, engineering or information science.
Experience:
- Minimum Years of Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions: 8
- Additional Experience Qualifier (optional): 8-10 years of data analytics, data science or business experience * Industry experiences a must
