Role: Lead Data Engineer - Based in Romania (Fully Remote) - Collaboration type: CIM
We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer with extensive experience in Microsoft Azure and Databricks, and a proven ability to design, implement, and optimize scalable data solutions. In this role, you will work on data engineering initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to architect and manage modern data platforms. Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric will be a valuable advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable data pipelines, architectures, and models using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Data Lake.
- Leverage Azure services to ingest, transform, and process large-scale datasets effectively.
- Architect and optimize data solutions using Databricks, enabling advanced analytics and real-time processing.
- Implement Delta Lake solutions for reliable and performant data storage.
- Design and manage integrations using Microsoft Fabric to enhance the data platform ecosystem.
- Explore Fabric’s capabilities to support modern reporting and near real-time analytics.
- Build, manage, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure smooth data flow and processing.
- Implement best practices for data transformation and quality monitoring.
- Ensure robust data governance, quality, and security policies across the data platform.
- o Implement role-based access controls and compliance standards within the Azure ecosystem.
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that drive business impact.
- Mentor junior data engineers, establish best practices, and lead data platform development efforts.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of data pipelines and architectures.
- Scale infrastructure to meet organizational demands.
- Maintain clear and detailed documentation of data pipelines, system architecture, and platform integrations.
- Continuously enhance processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on Azure Data Services and Databricks.
- Proven expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Delta Lake.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data engineering best practices.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and scalable architecture design.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and DevOps practices for data engineering workflows.
- Deep knowledge of data governance, security best practices, and compliance in Azure environments.
- Ability to lead teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive data engineering initiatives.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and its integration capabilities.
- Familiarity with real-time data processing and analytics.
- Knowledge of orchestration tools and frameworks for advanced pipeline automation.
