About The Role

The Staff iOS Engineer role is a pivotal position within Capital One Canada's software development team. This role involves leading and inspiring a team of talented mobile engineers to deliver innovative and impactful products that enhance customer experience. The successful candidate will balance hands-on development with strategic leadership, guiding the team through the entire software development lifecycle. You will be instrumental in building and maintaining high-quality iOS applications that empower users to take control of their financial health. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, agile environment that embraces cloud technologies, open source frameworks, and microservices architecture.

As part of the team, you will contribute to projects such as Credit Keeper, which allows customers to monitor their credit scores, and Quick Check, which helps users determine their credit card approval likelihood before applying. Your expertise will help shape the future of mobile banking solutions, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and user-friendly. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in any field, with extensive experience in mobile application development. A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI is required. You should have a strong background in application design, technical architecture, and full-cycle development. Proven experience in leading and mentoring junior and intermediate developers, as well as providing guidance to stakeholders, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a deep understanding of software engineering principles, agile methodologies, and modern development practices.

Additional qualifications include excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for innovation. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, experience with open source frameworks, and knowledge of microservices architecture will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the delivery of major components and platform needs in collaboration with senior engineers and architects, ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery.
  • Work as part of a dynamic mobile team throughout all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle, from planning and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Enhance software engineering practices by designing, developing, testing, and supporting technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies.
  • Contribute expertise on how evolving technology impacts the domain, providing innovative solutions that align with business goals.
  • Mentor junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mobile applications with backend systems and APIs.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality, security, and performance, adhering to best practices and industry standards.
