Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) – Electrical Substation | Abu Dhabi, UAE
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) – Electrical Substation for a major high-voltage substation programme in Abu Dhabi. This full-time, on-site role involves leading the design and construction supervision of 400kV / 220kV / 132kV substations, ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and commercial performance benchmarks.
The selected candidate will play a pivotal leadership role in client interface, quality assurance, contractor performance, and project delivery, acting as the main authority on-site for electrical substation execution throughout the project lifecycle.
💰 Salary: 18,000 AED/month (all-inclusive)
📍 Location: Abu Dhabi (Project Site)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical engineering scope for high-voltage substation projects (400kV / 220kV / 132kV)
- Provide senior supervision of site activities to ensure alignment with approved designs, specifications, and authority standards
- Drive compliance with HSE and QA/QC procedures, ensuring strict adherence to project requirements
- Manage contractors and supervision teams to ensure quality, schedule performance, and productivity targets
- Review and approve technical submissions, shop drawings, and construction documentation
- Address site issues, technical queries, NCRs, RFIs, and coordinate resolution with all stakeholders
- Coordinate closely with client stakeholders and UAE utilities, ensuring all works meet authority requirements
- Lead planning, organising, and execution of engineering supervision and construction inspection activities
- Witness testing, commissioning, energisation, and handover procedures to ensure completion readiness
- Verify installed quantities, support completion certification, and close out works during final project phases
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in the UAE
- Proven track record supervising HV substation construction and delivery
- Strong experience working with utilities such as TRANSCO, ADDC, DEWA, SEWA, or equivalent authorities
- Excellent technical understanding of substation engineering, installation supervision, and authority standards
- Strong leadership capability and client-facing communication skills
- Confident producing reports, technical reviews, and site documentation while managing contractor performance
