Overview:
We are seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs in delivering innovative, mission-critical solutions. In this role, you’ll help streamline the software development lifecycle from requirements to production monitoring. You’ll leverage automation, open-source tools, and cloud resources to reduce manual tasks and enable innovation. This is an opportunity to expand your skills in automation, cloud-based development, and DevSecOps practices.
Note: This position includes participation in an on-call rotation (one week every 4–6 weeks).
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent.
- Substitution: 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
Clearance Requirements:
- Ability to obtain VA Medium-Background Investigation clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Implement continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Automate infrastructure and application deployments using scripting and IaC tools.
- Support Linux systems engineering efforts.
- Administer container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS).
- Collaborate with development teams to streamline SDLC processes.
- Participate in on-call rotation for production support.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years supporting Linux systems engineering efforts.
- 1+ years administering container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or EKS).
- 1+ years scripting and automation experience (Ansible, Python, Bash, Terraform).
- Experience with complex build systems.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies or SDLC.
Additional/Desired Skills:
- Experience with back-end software development.
- Familiarity with AWS or Azure for automated DevSecOps pipelines.
- Experience configuring Opensearch clusters.
- Knowledge of security scanning tools and vulnerability remediation.
- Knowledge of Java.
