Company Description

ARGONIAN, located in Cluj-Napoca, is dedicated to helping drone operators and authorities safely embrace and grow unmanned traffic. We provide drone detection and counter-UAS systems, traffic monitoring, geo awareness services, flight authorisations & identification, and other relevant services for drone flights.


Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Backend Architect PHP Symphony at ARGONIAN. The role involves daily tasks related to back-end development and front-end integrations for our platform. While the role is primarily located in Cluj-Napoca, partial remote work is also acceptable.



Your Role


As the Symfony Architect, you will:

  • Own and evolve the architecture of our Symfony-based microservices across the ARGONIAN platform
  • Design, develop, and optimize backend services for performance, modularity, and maintainability
  • Collaborate closely with product leads, DevOps, and front-end teams to ensure seamless service integration
  • Enforce best practices in code quality, security, API design, and CI/CD
  • Guide and mentor backend developers on architectural patterns and Symfony best practices
  • Contribute to service documentation and participate in technical planning

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in backend development with PHP, including Symfony (4.4+)
  • Proven experience designing and scaling microservices architectures
  • Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, service orchestration, and messaging systems
  • Familiar with security concepts (OAuth2, JWT, input validation, etc.)
  • Comfortable working in a DevOps-centric environment (Docker, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Willing and able to work on-site in Cluj-Napoca



Nice to Have

  • Experience in aviation, U-space, UTM, or drone-related platforms
  • Exposure to real-time systems or geospatial data
  • Understanding of EU regulatory frameworks for drones and U-space
