Senior Android Engineer

Trofee is the first livestreaming shopping platform in the Middle East - it combines the seamless purchasing experience of e-commerce with the engaging visual content of live social media. The company was founded by a team of ex-Amazon, Farfetch, and Whatnot. We're seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of e-commerce in the MENA region.

About the Role

You will own large parts of the Android codebase and play a key role in building a fast, interactive, and reliable livestream experience. You’ll collaborate with product, design, and backend teams, and ship features that thousands of users directly engage with in real time.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy high autonomy, product ownership, and building zero-to-one.

Key Responsibilities

• Build intuitive, high-performance UIs using Jetpack Compose + Kotlin
• Architect scalable app flows built for realtime interaction & low latency
• Use coroutines & Flow to handle async tasks and concurrency
• Integrate APIs (REST/GraphQL) and real-time services (WebSockets)
• Optimize app performance, stability, and resource usage
• Participate in code reviews, propose improvements, and shape engineering standards

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong understanding of the Android ecosystem (lifecycle, builds, deployment, testing, etc.)
• Proficiency in Jetpack Compose and Kotlin
• Solid experience with structured concurrency using coroutines and Flow
• Awareness of app performance, resource usage, and delivering a smooth user experience
• Product-oriented mindset with the ability to understand user needs and contribute to product decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with WebSockets
• Exposure to WebRTC or real-time communication features
• Background in video streaming
• Experience building highly interactive applications or game-like interfaces
