Role Overview

The Head of Information Technology is responsible for building and operating a technology platform that directly enables investment origination, due diligence, execution, portfolio management, and exits across multiple asset classes. The role ensures that technology supports investment teams with accurate data, secure systems, and scalable tools while maintaining robust governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.

This position partners closely with investment professionals, risk, compliance, finance, and senior leadership to translate investment strategies into effective technology solutions that enhance decision-making, execution speed, and portfolio performance.


Core Responsibilities

Investment Technology Enablement

  • Own and enhance technology platforms supporting investment origination, pipeline management, due diligence, transaction execution, and post-investment monitoring.
  • Enable seamless data flow across deal teams, investment committees, portfolio oversight, and reporting functions.
  • Support complex investment structures, multi-currency portfolios, valuation methodologies, and performance measurement.


Deal Execution & Portfolio Systems

  • Oversee systems used for financial modeling, deal tracking, virtual data rooms, document management, and approvals.
  • Ensure reliable and secure access to investment data for internal teams, committees, and external advisors.
  • Support portfolio company monitoring, covenant tracking, asset performance analytics, and exit planning.


Data, Analytics & Decision Support

  • Build and govern a centralized investment data architecture enabling real-time portfolio views, risk metrics, and performance analytics.
  • Partner with investment teams to deliver dashboards, valuation tools, and scenario analysis across asset classes.
  • Leverage automation, analytics, and AI to improve underwriting efficiency and investment insights.


Cybersecurity, Confidentiality & Risk

  • Safeguard highly sensitive deal, investor, and portfolio data through best-in-class cybersecurity controls.
  • Implement strict access controls, data segregation, and audit trails aligned with investment confidentiality requirements.
  • Lead incident response planning and third-party technology risk management.


Regulatory, Governance & Controls

  • Ensure investment systems and data management practices comply with applicable financial services regulations, data protection laws, and internal investment governance frameworks.
  • Support investment committees, auditors, and regulators with secure, transparent, and auditable technology processes.
  • Maintain IT policies covering data retention, valuation support, recordkeeping, and system integrity.


Digital Transformation & Platform Strategy

  • Lead the evolution of investment platforms including portfolio management systems, risk engines, valuation tools, and investor reporting solutions.
  • Drive integration between front-office investment tools and back-office finance, risk, and compliance systems.
  • Evaluate and implement best-in-class investment technology, fintech solutions, and cloud platforms.


Leadership, Budget & Vendors

  • Lead internal IT and data teams aligned to investment priorities.
  • Own the technology budget with a focus on value creation, scalability, and long-term investment enablement.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, data providers, and system integrators supporting investment activities.

  • Senior technology leader with deep exposure to private equity, private credit, real assets, structured investments, or capital markets environments.
  • Strong understanding of investment lifecycles, deal processes, portfolio monitoring, and valuation frameworks.
  • Proven experience enabling investment teams through technology and data.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cybersecurity, data governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance speed of execution with risk and control.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (CISSP, CISM, cloud certifications, ITIL) preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive IT experience, including senior leadership roles supporting investment or asset-management platforms.
