Job Title: DevOps Specialist
Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote)
Duration: 12 Months (with Possible extension)
Client: Public Sector
Pay Rate: CAD 90-100/hr
Note: Occasional visit to Edmonton, AB Office required.
Mandatory Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in relevant field.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. (8 years with a Bachelor’s degree or 10 years with a Diploma)
- 5+ years’ Experience with Azure RedHat OpenShift
- 5+ years’ Experience with Cloud-Based and mobile application development
- 5+ years’ Experience with Disaster Recovery architectures, processes and tests
- 5+ years’ Experience with performance monitoring and troubleshooting
- 5+ years’ Experience with replicating environments (either manually or through Infrastructure as code)
- 5+ years’ Experience with scaling services through either horizontal or vertical scaling techniques
- 5+ years’ Experience with VM sizing based on needs and performance testing
- 3+ years’ Experience working as a DevOps Specialist on large-scale agile enterprise projects with 15 or more team members.
- 3+ years’ Experience working on the same enterprise Agile development teams
- 3+ years’ Experience incrementally transforming existing large-scale enterprise legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases.
- 3+ years’ Experience in the Government of Alberta environment or an environment of equivalent size and complexity.
- 3+ years’ Experience with leveraging Artificial Intelligent (AI) tools for DevOps development.
- 3+ years’ Experience working in large global or national organizations.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Create scripts, tools, and procedures for operations by designing and implementing automation for limited downtime deployment and maintenance.
- Lead operations of digital services in production by managing configuration and credentials for all related environments.
- Planning and managing maintenance activities; and managing database upgrades and migrations, backups, recoveries, etc.
- Provide operations support for implementation and enhancement of digital services by creating templates and patterns for application deployments and CI/CD pipelines; and creating scripts and tools to automate the establishment of environments for development and testing.
- Creating tools, scripts and processes that will enable application teams to have better observability of the application through monitoring and telemetry tools.
- Support delivery teams in adopting best practices by providing operations support for early and frequent integration testing, security scans, system testing, and performance and load testing; and providing operations support for early and frequent delivery to end-users in limited availability launches (Alphas and Betas).
- Sustain ongoing DevOps development and quality through continuous adopting best practices, improving processes and maintaining technical documentation.
- Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies and best practices to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the project with open communication in a high-performance team culture.
