Job Overview:We are seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer to join our team in [City, Australia]. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the company’s network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure seamless connectivity and support for all network-related services.
Key Responsibilities:- Network Design & Implementation: Plan, design, and implement network infrastructure to meet business requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Network Monitoring: Monitor network performance and health using network management tools and proactively troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide level 1 and level 2 network support by diagnosing and resolving network-related issues across a variety of devices and platforms (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
- Security Management: Implement and maintain network security policies and best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS).
- Documentation: Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation for network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
- Configuration Management: Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, system administrators, and security teams to support the organization’s infrastructure.
- Upgrades & Patching: Perform regular updates, upgrades, and patches to ensure that the network infrastructure is secure and up-to-date.
- Backup & Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the network and support business continuity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience working as a Network Engineer or in a similar role with hands-on experience in network setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Experience with network devices and technologies such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Familiarity with network security protocols (e.g., VPN, IPSec, SSL/TLS) and best practices.
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios) and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve network issues quickly.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
- Experience with VoIP (Voice over IP) and video conferencing solutions.
- Knowledge of SD-WAN and network automation tools.
- Familiarity with network virtualization technologies such as VMware NSX or Cisco ACI.
- Experience with network performance tuning and traffic analysis.
- ITIL certification or experience working in an ITIL-based environment.
