The AI Research Division of Agile Robots is looking for a Robotics Vision & Perception Engineer (m/f/d) to design, implement, and validate industrial-grade 2D/3D vision systems for robotic applications. The role focuses on multi-camera and multi-modal perception under real-world constraints such as calibration accuracy, latency, lighting variability, and robustness in production environments.
Your Responsibilities
- Perception Design: Design and develop industrial multi-modal perception systems combining 2D/3D vision, classical image processing, and learning-based methods for robotic applications.
- Vision Systems: Design, integrate, and evaluate multi-camera and high-speed vision setups, including synchronization, calibration strategies, and performance trade-offs.
- System Validation: Validate and demonstrate perception system performance in complex robotic scenarios, considering accuracy, latency, robustness, and failure modes.
- Robotics Integration: Work closely with robotics, control, and software teams to integrate perception systems into end-to-end robotic solutions.
- Architecture Definition: Translate functional and technical requirements into perception system architectures, interfaces, and implementation concepts.
- Field Deployment: Support on-site deployment, validation, and feedback collection at customer locations, with travel depending on project phase.
- Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, AI, or a related field.
- Perception Experience: Experience designing and implementing industrial vision or robotic perception systems.
- Programming: Strong proficiency in C/C++ for Linux and Windows environments.
- Vision Libraries: Hands-on experience with vision libraries such as OpenCV in prototype or production systems.
- Hands-On Mindset: Practical mindset for working with evolving hardware–software prototypes under real-world constraints.
- Communication: Strong analytical problem-solving skills and clear technical communication in English.
- Camera Setup: Experience with camera, lens, and lighting setup and calibration for robotic systems.
- Edge Platforms: Exposure to embedded or edge perception platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson or heterogeneous processing systems (GPU / FPGA).
- Learning-Based Vision: Experience integrating learning-based vision components (e.g. object detection or segmentation) using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorRT, or similar.
- Simulation Tools: Familiarity with vision system simulation or validation tools (e.g. Blender, NVIDIA robotics or digital factory simulations).
- Additional Languages: Experience with Python and/or C# in robotics or perception contexts.
- ML Frameworks: Familiarity with applied ML/DL libraries and deployment toolchains used in industrial vision systems.
