Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Designer to support a major infrastructure project involving the replacement and upgrade of hardware in a Juniper-based environment. This role involves migrating from the current hub-and-spoke architecture to a Juniper-based SD-WAN solution, leveraging Session Smart Routing (SSR). The selected candidate will collaborate closely with two other Network Designers, translating high-level architecture into detailed designs and ensuring seamless integration in a multi-cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Architects to transform High-Level Designs (HLDs) into Detailed Designs (DDs).
• Support the development, configuration, and validation of network designs in a testbed environment located in Belgium.
• Provide technical assistance to qualification and operations teams during solution testing and deployment phases.
• Develop network designs for hardware on-premises, software on-premises (VMware-based), and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Ensure compatibility and optimization of SSR-based SD-WAN solutions with protocols such as BGP, ISIS, MPLS, and segment routing.
• Document detailed design specifications and assist in operational handovers.

Skills and Experience

• Expertise in Juniper technologies with a focus on Session Smart Routing (SSR) and SD-WAN.
• Solid understanding of SVR, segment routing, and key networking protocols.
• Experience in multi-cloud environments, with a working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware.
• Proven track record of working in complex network migration and hardware replacement projects.

Contract Details

• Start Date: ASAP, ideally before the end of the year; open to January 2024 start.
• Location: Brussels area, Belgium (on-site 2 days per week; occasional 3rd day may be required).
• Contract Length: Initial 6-month contract, extendable based on project requirements.
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day).
• Interview Process: Single-stage interview.

Project Timeline

• Architecture Completion: End of 2024.
• Detailed Design Finalization: May 2025.
• Full Rollout: Late 2025.

Additional Notes

This role requires immediate availability or a start date early in 2024. The position is based in Belgium to facilitate close collaboration with the team and ensure effective testing and implementation. Expertise in Juniper SSR is critical for this position, enabling the candidate to contribute effectively from day one.
