The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Android Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, Kotlin, and JavaScript, with a deep understanding of Android development and best practices. As a Senior Android Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality mobile applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features, ensuring the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications. This position is open to anyone in the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform (develop and maintain high-quality Android applications using Java and Kotlin; collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features; and, work with outside data sources and APIs)
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications (conduct code reviews and ensure the quality of the code; identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs; and maintain code quality, organization, and automation)
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies (continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency; and stay updated with new mobile technology trends, applications, and protocols)
• Collaborate with team members (work closely with the design team to create a seamless user experience; assist in project planning, sprint planning, and time estimation; and mentor junior developers and share knowledge with the team)

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 5+ years of proven experience in Android development.
• Extensive experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and familiarity with front-end frameworks.
• Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON.
• Experience with third-party libraries and APIs.
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
• Experience with Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.
• Experience with unit testing, test automation, and test-driven development.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
