Job Title – Senior DevOps Specialist

Location – Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – Hybrid (Primarily Remote)

Employment Type – Contract


About the Role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Specialist to support large-scale enterprise digital platforms for a public sector client in Alberta. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building, securing, and operating modern digital services using Agile and DevOps best practices, while ensuring high availability, security, and performance across multiple enterprise initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead DevOps operations for enterprise-scale digital platforms, products, and services

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to enable frequent, reliable, and low-downtime deployments

• Apply security best practices to meet regulatory, compliance, and enterprise standards

• Manage infrastructure configuration, credentials, and environment provisioning

• Plan and execute maintenance activities, database upgrades, migrations, backups, and recovery processes

• Create scripts, tools, and automation to support deployment, monitoring, and environment replication

• Improve observability through monitoring, logging, telemetry, and performance analytics

• Support development teams with integration testing, security scanning, system testing, and performance testing

• Enable early and frequent releases, including Alpha and Beta launches

• Continuously improve DevOps processes, documentation, and technical artifacts

• Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, and team leads within Agile/Scrum delivery teams


Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a DevOps Specialist on large-scale enterprise Agile projects

• Strong expertise in CI/CD, automation, infrastructure management, and cloud platforms

• Experience supporting secure, high-availability production environments

• Hands-on experience with monitoring, performance tuning, and incident resolution

• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

• Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to clear required criminal and security checks

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure cloud services and modern DevOps tooling

• Background supporting public sector or large enterprise digital platforms

• Experience with containerization, infrastructure as code, and legacy modernization

• Exposure to modern development stacks including React, .NET, and cloud-native databases
