Required experience and skills:
- 4+ years of experience with designing, implementing, and operating cloud platforms with VMware technologies (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, Cloud Director, etc.)
- 3 years of experience working with networking devices and protocols (BGP, OSPF, IPSEC, GRE)
- 3 years of experience working and configuring firewall devices (Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, etc)
- 3+ years of experience with designing, implementing, and operating of VMware AVI Load Balancer and NSX-T
- 3+ years of experience with designing, implementing and operating monitoring and alerting with VMware AVI and NSX-T
- 3+ years of experience with Linux/Windows administration
- Good communication skills in English
Preferred experience and skills:
- 3+ years of experience writing procedural documents to correct alert conditions in AVI and NSX-T.
- 2+ years of experience working with VMware Realize Operations, including alarming and alerting.
- 2+ years Hashicorp Terraform template development
- 2+ years of VRealize Network Insight (VRNI) experience
- 2+ years of experience with Akamai Prolexic IP Deploy and Management
- 2+ years of experience with PagerDuty API integration.
- 2+ years of experience with digital certificate ordering and deployment
- 1+ years of experience with security standards, authentication, authorization, and encryption protocols
- 1+ years of experience with GitHub issue and code management

The development team in IBM Cloud VMware Solutions is responsible for developing and delivering automated VMware virtualization solutions on IBM Cloud to our clients quickly and easily. We are hiring passionate software engineers to be part of our dynamic development team to build and monitor our virtualization solution on the latest cloud technologies.
Qualified candidates will be responsible for:
- Ensuring monitoring and alerting of all components of our managed VMware platform including NSX-T and AVI Infrastructures. Maintaining the infrastructures to enable actionable alerts.
- Regular review and tuning of operational dashboards to provide observation in non-alerting areas to see if alerting needs to be added
- Adjusting monitor and alert thresholds and severities of our managed VMware platform
- Reviewing customer discovered incidents to consider additional adjustments
- Reviewing alerts that resulted in incidents to ensure all were actionable
- Designing automation enhancements for capacity issues for both AVI and NSX-T platforms.
- Writing and executing unit, functional, and integration testcases
- Troubleshooting AVI Load Balancer and NSX-T fabric issues with vendor.
- Collaborating with broader IBM Cloud and partner companies on technology solutions
- Following compliant procedures and secure engineering best practices
- Collaboration and review of technical designs with architecture and offering management
