As an AI Data Scientist, you will take on a key role in the strategic advancement of our e-commerce webshop and actively shape the AI transformation at parfumdreams. You operate at the intersection between our backend data and the customer-facing shop experience — with the clear goal of making data usable in real time. In short: you turn “We have data” into “Wow, the webshop understands me.”
In this role, you build intelligent systems from the ground up and play a decisive part in how millions of customers discover, experience, and purchase products online.
Your focus: applying advanced data science and AI methods to elevate personalization, streamline processes, and enhance the overall shopping experience. You collaborate closely with our teams in Development, Marketing, Content, E-Commerce, and Pricing — together you create AI-driven solutions that make our webshop smarter, faster, and even more customer-centric.
This position is to be located in Heilbronn or remote.
Your Responsibilities
- Build modern data pipelines — both real-time and batch — that serve as the engine for all AI features across our webshop.
- Develop and implement NLP models that make our chatbots smarter, refine product descriptions automatically, and accurately capture sentiment in customer reviews.
- Continuously monitor and improve models, detect deviations early, and maintain strong feedback loops to ensure long-term model quality.
- Use computer vision to automatically recognize products, enable visual search, and ensure image quality across our assortment.
- Design robust data models in close collaboration with our data engineers — forming a solid foundation for all AI applications.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities, and derive concrete optimization measures.
- Work closely with Development, Data Engineering, Product, and Marketing to turn data-driven insights into real, measurable improvements in the shop.
- Plan and conduct A/B tests, analyze results in depth, and optimize our AI-driven features accordingly.
- Bring AI insights into business processes through cross-functional collaboration and actively drive innovation.
- Apply ethical considerations, particularly regarding data quality, privacy, fairness, and transparency.
- Identify opportunities for automation to make processes smarter, more efficient, and more scalable.
- Communicate complex modeling decisions and results in clear, accessible language.
- Completed degree in Data Science, AI, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in data science or AI, ideally in e-commerce or retail.
- Strong analytical thinking and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience in deploying AI and ML models to production, including monitoring and continuous optimization.
- Excellent Python skills, including Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, GenAI and LLM tools, SQL, BigQuery, AWS, Azure, Snowflake, APIs, and Docker.
- Broad ML expertise, covering supervised and unsupervised learning, clustering, ensemble methods, and reinforcement learning.
- Production ML experience, including model deployment, version control, monitoring, and CI/CD processes.
- NLP expertise in chatbots, sentiment analysis, and automated product text generation.
- Computer vision skills for image recognition, visual search, and quality control.
- Knowledge of recommendation systems, including collaborative, content-based, and hybrid approaches.
- Experience with predictive analytics, such as demand and sales forecasting or customer behavior analysis.
- Competence in anomaly detection, e.g., fraud detection or inventory monitoring.
- Familiarity with personalization algorithms, including dynamic pricing and personalized promotions.
- Detail-oriented and data-driven, with the ability to quickly grasp complex issues.
- Strong communication skills, able to translate business requirements into technical solutions and present technical results clearly.
- Team player, comfortable working cross-functionally and managing multiple projects in parallel.
