About The Role
Myticas Consulting is seeking a Network Test & Verification Engineer to support a leading networking technology company in Ottawa. In this role, you will validate the performance, reliability, and compliance of advanced networking systems. You’ll create verification plans, design and execute system-level tests, build automated test environments, and work with industry-standard traffic generation tools. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with cutting-edge networking technologies, containerized environments, and automation frameworks while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

About The Role
Myticas Consulting is seeking a Network Test & Verification Engineer to support a leading networking technology company in Ottawa. In this role, you will validate the performance, reliability, and compliance of advanced networking systems. You’ll create verification plans, design and execute system-level tests, build automated test environments, and work with industry-standard traffic generation tools. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with cutting-edge networking technologies, containerized environments, and automation frameworks while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop system and subsystem verification matrices to ensure full coverage of all system requirements
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and report on system-level testing activities
- Design, develop, and maintain test cases and test beds for a variety of network testing scenarios
- Execute tests using traffic generators (e.g., Spirent, IXIA, Test Center), packet capture tools (e.g., tcpdump), and performance tools (e.g., iPerf)
- Validate networking features and performance across OSI layers, including TCP/UDP/IP, routing protocols, and optimization techniques
- Implement and manage NETCONF and gRPC/gNMI for automated network device configuration
- Work with structured data formats (JSON, JSON IETF, XML, YAML, PROTO) and REST APIs to support automation workflows
- Utilize Kubernetes (POD) and Docker containers to build and manage test environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance and functional issues, ensuring timely defect identification and resolution
- Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, or within daily commuting distance
- 5+ years of professional experience in network testing, network verification, or system-level network QA roles
- 5+ years of combined work and/or education experience in Canada in networking, telecommunications, or closely related fields
- Hands-on experience with traffic generation and analysis tools such as Spirent, IXIA (or equivalent), plus packet capture/performance tools such as tcpdump and iPerf
- Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols (TCP/UDP/IP, routing protocols) and the OSI model
- Experience configuring and automating network devices using NETCONF and gRPC/gNMI
- Experience working with structured data formats (JSON, XML, YAML, PROTO) and REST APIs for network or test automation
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker in lab or test environments
- Experience with Python or Ansible for network automation and orchestration
- Prior experience in network verification, system integration testing, telecom/network equipment validation, or performance benchmarking in large-scale test environments
