Game Developer

Join an exciting project to develop a third-person action game for PC using Unreal Engine 5, inspired by the Souls-like genre. The game features three distinct realms, a final boss gate, and a combat system with basic attacks, rolling, jumping, and a customizable ability loadout. You will play a pivotal role in validating the project scope, shaping the production roadmap, and advising on the design and implementation of core gameplay systems. The focus is on delivering a polished vertical slice and establishing a solid foundation for full production.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and validate the overall project scope and technical feasibility
• Define a detailed production roadmap for the vertical slice and beyond
• Advise on the design and implementation of core combat systems, including feel, responsiveness, and balance
• Develop and refine the boss design pipeline and encounter structure
• Guide the creation of room and level layouts to support engaging PvE gameplay
• Design and implement a flexible ability system with a pool of 16–20 abilities
• Ensure robust controller support and optimize input responsiveness
• Establish and monitor performance budgets to maintain high-quality visuals and smooth gameplay
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure cohesive game systems and deliverables
  
  

Skills And Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency with Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprints and C++
• Proven experience developing third-person action or Souls-like games
• Strong understanding of combat mechanics, ability systems, and player feedback loops
• Demonstrated ability to define production roadmaps and manage technical scope
• Experience designing boss encounters and level structures for PvE games
• Familiarity with controller support and input optimization for PC
• Solid grasp of performance optimization and budgeting in Unreal Engine
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
